Frequently asked questions
- Is FanFiction down for everyone?
- The status above comes from a server-side check (not your browser). If it is online for us but not for you, check DNS, VPN, or local cache.
- Is fanfiction.net down or just me?
- “Just me” means the site answers here. “Everyone” means a network failure or timeout from our servers.
- Why is this result reliable?
- We use a realistic browser User-Agent to reduce false “down” reports from anti-bot blocks.

Fix DNS problems
- A Domain Name System (DNS) maps memorable names like fanfiction.net to IP addresses (for example 192.0.2.1), like a phone book for websites. Your ISP usually provides this service.
- Clear your local DNS cache so you pick up the latest records from your ISP. On Windows open Command Prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns.
- If the site works on mobile data or another network but not on your PC, switch to a public DNS such as OpenDNS or Google Public DNS.
